Hi all-
I am new to CC and have enjoyed learning more about USC on these boards. Just a question for some upperclassmen/alums...my Housing Request was received March 29th. I only listed 4 options: New w/ Sink (Double), North w/ Sink and Business Floor (Double), New w/o Sink (Double), and North w/o Sink and Business Floor (Double).

Now I am freaking out because I realize people sent their housing in all the way back in February. I wish I had known we could send in requests without committing to USC! Anyway, based on people's past experiences, how likely am I to get one of my choices? I realize New/North are popular dorms. If it isn't likely, is there anything I can do?

Thank you, and can't wait to meet class of 2010! Fight on!

no worries. it's april. i haven't even sent mine yet (im still a senior)

i think you're fine =) besides, all freshmen get housing right?

HEY-WE'RE PART OF THE TROJAN FAMILY NOW! fight on!!

I'm sure you will get one of your choices. I'm very sure.

If not, then you'll probably be in the Radisson...which is not bad at all.

krisiitina--Yay! Your reply made me smile. It's great to have this whole college admission process over with.
redski59--Thank you for your optimism! May I just ask, how are you so sure? Did you have a similar situation? Also, I don't want to be in the Radisson, I'd prefer a dorm. I thought the Radisson is only for those who send in after May 1st? Does anyone know about this?

Based on what I've spoken with many other people, most people sent their housing deposits after April 1 and many of them got their first choices. I myself sent mine the first week of April, I think, and I got my first choice, which was Parkside Suites.

The Radisson is not a bad place at all if you're looking for a dorm-like social experience. Those guys have a lot of fun, from what I understand. The bldgs that you would want to avoid are the apartments (Cardinal Gardens, Century and Parkside) and the suites (Flour and Parkside).

Also, I don't think anyone who sends after May 1 is guaranteed housing. And with the crunch they're having, such a person shouldn't even expect housing for mailing in their form late.

Thank you! After listing specific choices, the request form asks for general preferences, and I put "any residence hall" as my #1. Hopefully I will at least get a dorm; as you mentioned, the apartment/suite-style living isn't really for me either.

I have read mixed reviews on the boards about the Radisson.
I thought all freshman were guaranteed housing no matter what, and the Radisson was only for overflow students since you can't request it outright...?

I put New/North/then Birnkhart (can't spell it) as my choice.. then it was marks tower where i really don't want to go to. I just wanted a dorm, and if that's impossible, then apartments.

I'm going to live in a dorm no matter what my freshman year (to socialize and make new friends) and then probably move to an apartment sophomoreyear....

Same here...I definitely want the dorm experience. I'm still confused about the Radisson housing though, can anyone clarify?

The Radisson is the hotel across the street from campus that is actually owned by USC. You basically occupy a few floors and the rooms are typical hotel rooms in size, but with USC furniture. You share the room with a roommate and get your own bathroom.

The Radisson is NOT the place where those who don't get any of their top choices go, especially since it's more expensive. You WILL get a room on ONE of your top choices, even if it's not the first choice. (I believe you choose like 5 on your housing app.)

My housing application was received March 16th. I really want to be in New/North. Would any current students know if I stand a shot? Did I apply early enough in the game to get my top dorm choice?

That's exactly what I am asking. Anyone have an idea about this?

Yeah I think you'll get into New/North. I was one of the last ones to get accepted and I got into North fine.
