xcrunner18- i didn't know it at first, but I learned through the USC thread that once in a while, pres. interviewees get bumped to trustee. on that note, trustees who don't get the trustee may end up with pres. and pres. can end up with deans (or nothing)

cece, i think you're right. i think trustees have interviews on the 25th-26th, like you guys, and pres have 3 dates not coinciding with the 25th-26th...

I have a huge problem. I did not sign up for an interview date because I wasn't sure if my school would let me skip a day of school for an interview. I found out from the school today that I could. When I came home, I got an email saying that I had to respond by 5:00 today; I opened the email at 5:25. I'm past the time deadline. Do you think USC will still let me interview for March 5?

I got the same email (I was under the impression that my dad had faxed the letter. Unfortunately, I was under the wrong impression...)

Anyway, when I called (at around 3pm), the person who answered said there were only spots left on the first date... so I had to sign up for that one...

alright. so in the email they sent with the itinerary, the interview is only 30 min. long. and there is only one. so, do you guys think the interview is more of a formality and that they are 75% sure on who they are going to accept already?

i hear that the interview is very important, but since it IS only 30 minutes long i would guess its like the cherry on top? its probably like the pushing factor for people on the fence, and if you do extra well/poorly then you could easily be accepted/denied based on that factor

interviews were really chill. everyone came out of them feeling very good about themselves. the entire day was a great sales pitch for the bacc/md program. i am by no means bashing the program (in fact i would really love to be in it), but i just wanted to point out it was slightly annoying that they showed us how wonderful the program and how perfect it would be for each one of us, only to deny 2/3s of us in the end. anyways, everyone interviewing was stellar. i met some great kids. good luck to you all!

mjchiu2k: Considering most people felt good about the interview, do you get the impression that for the most part they had made decisions beforehand and the interviews were more for show? I mean I'm sure there will be a couple people who did horrible and a couple people who did excellent, thus changing their decisions, but if most people come out feeling good, then most of the interviews must have been comparable and hard to differentiate between for the admission people.

cecesunshine: I'm thinking you should wear a suit if you have one.

definitely WEAR A SUIT! Everyone (except for, I think, two people) wore suits.

Also, I actually did not feel like my interview was phenomenal. It didn't go horribly wrong, but it just felt kind of dull and I didn't get a chance to say everything I wanted to say... Fortunately, I was happy to even get an interview, so I'm not too bummed about it.

P.S. Another tip: check the weather and if it's going to be cold that day, bring a sweater or something to wear under your suit. I was absolutely freezing during the tours of the campus and the medical school.

johnstoops: I'm not exactly sure. I have a feeling they knew who they wanted to accept or something. It seems liked immediately after interviews they had made a decision on something. after our interviews we ended up spending some time w/ ppl that interviewed us. Some of the students who were involved w/ interviewing basically said that we can ask them whatever we want and that it won't change the outcome of the decisions. I also heard someone say something along the lines of "we can't say anything" almost as if they knew who got in already. Maybe im totally misreading the situation tho. It seems odd they would make decisions already since they still have two more days of interviews. I'm doubtful they would limit selection to 1/3 per interview day. Perhaps the interview becomes a score that is later evaluated with your entire app.
