USC interviews

Cece, it said "business attire is appropriate," so I'm guessing suits. My interviews at MSU and UIC were mostly full of people who wore suits, too. (And I think that goes for Trustee interviews and Bacc/MD)

It's supposed to be in the 70s on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in LA! I'm so siked to get into weather that's above freezing and not windy :).

Med school interview=suit (preferably charcoal or navy blue if you're a guy)

Ladies should be wearing either a pant suit or a nice skirt w/ jacket, a nice shell (I think they call it a shell), and pantyhose. I've seen a couple of female applicant wearing flowery dresses and such and they really stood out. You should be dressed conservatively and give off an aura of professionalism.

thanks guys! i'm so glad i actually thought of asking that.. i was seriously thinking of just wearing just a button down shirt. now at least i can borrow my mom's suit or something, since i have no time to shop for my own!

Wow guys, that was a total blast! Best of luck to everyone! Fight on :) haha.

yea the whole process was actually amazing. i wasnt entirely set on this program before, but after this, i really want to. good luck to everyone, esp those i met this week! i wish i could be in this with all of you guys!

Did they talk about your financial aid package when you interview?

No, because the official USC "financial aid package" comes after they see the tax documents and everything in April. Documents are due March 3, btw.

They need to see tax documents even if you interviewed for the Trustee Scholarship??

of course. its not guaranteed you would get the money

Yup. Even if you interview for Trustee, you can end up with no merit money.

Interviews and the whole Explore USC experience was awesome.

sweet, how many of you stayed overnight with a host? Plus, if you flew in like I will, how did you manage to carry a sleeping bag, pillow, etc.

If your host is a good host, they should provide you with a bed/couch/sofa/futon and a pillow/blankets. I would bring my own towel though.

haha agree with the towel. just wondering because usc said to bring a sleeping bag and pillow but i can imagine that'd be cumbersome...

I completely disagree with norcal. A lot of the hosts are freshmen and sophomores who live in dorms and don't have a bed/couch/sofa/futon to provide...so I think that's asking a lot of a host. I flew out there and I checked a bag, then carried on my garment bag, my messenger bag and my sleeping bag (it had a tote). Yes, I'm aware that was 3 items and I broke FAA rules, but no one seemed to care. It also was cumbersome, but when I saw other people carrying the same stuff I felt better, haha.

I'm still of the opinion that someone who signs up to host should at least provide blankets/pillow/air mattress/bed. But, apparently that's just me.

Most of the dorms on campus do not allow (physically, space wise) for students to have a couch/futton etc.

definitely bring a sleeping bag! if your airliner doesn't allow that many bags, you'll have to stuff it in one of your suitcases then. that's what i did.

i stayed overnight, and both times all the explore/baccmd brought towels and sleeping bags, and we all needed them

Why don't they let you guys room w/ med students, especially med students who came through the BS/MD program? I would think they would be able to provide much more insight than some USC freshman.

hey guys, I have my interview on the 5th, any tips about the interview? Also, is there anything different about the way they interview for USC?
