What specifically does USC Marshall have to offer that other undergraduate business programs do not have to offer?

USC has an excellent real estate program, but besides that, I would say that you only have a slight advantage in socal and a great advantage in the northeast.

Also, different firms come to different schools, so you will be able to have the opportunities of these firms that other schools won’t. That will all depend on your tastes, but I do know one of the factors that contribute to the rankings is the number of top firms that hire at each school. USC does “okay” compared to its competitors, but if there is a specific firm you would like to work for, it would be a great advantage if they were heavy on USC students. My friend (who is in marshall) tells me that the top four firms hire here as well, so that sounds great.

Usc alumni are pretty loyal in the socal region, but do please underestimate this exaggerated “trojan network” myth because in the end, it all depends on your work ethics, your ability to succeed, and your determination. No one wants to hire a lazy bum even if you are one of their “kind.” Best of luck, and my friend wishes you well for the future.

What do you mean by USC has a great real estate program? Are you talking about the real estate “track” of the PPD Major?

I ask because I’ve heard this thrown around a little bit and I’m interested in getting involved

International options. I’m hoping to study business administration, and the global leadership program and the LINC program well help with my international goals. If you don’t plan on international business, it may not be as suitable for you, however the school will still be great as it is in the LA area and there will therefore be more companies.

So Marshall sucks ? lol

Again, need to stress here it is what you make of it. Big 4 accounting all recruit heavily there. I’ve seen bain and McK postings there as well.

The firm you join depends on you seeking out student orgs (ex if you wanted to go i-banking, join the investing society). If you’re smart driven and capable, you won’t have trouble finding a job (hell, I had no job experience in 2012 (the worst year to be a grad ex 2008) and I wound up pretty good.

A school’s name on your resume at a U grad level means dick.

Hey SCHedgie, any thoughts on the Finance graduate program? I think I asked about it before and understand the additional time/cost issue, but if those aren’t a problem, do you think it is good program? Looking at it on top of acctg or other majors where there is not a lot of room for additional finance classes.

well most students double major in leventhal no ? which is like almost 90% chance of getting recruited by big 4 if you do well that is.
