USC merit scholarship

I've got a question about the merit scholarships - how long do they last? Are they just for freshman year, or for all four?

Merit scholarships are for all 4, provided you maintain a 3.0 GPA.

let's say you receive notification of interviewing for pres/trustees scholarships. Has anyone (who went through the process before) actually sent in their 1st semester senior grades BEFORE getting notification? I;m asking because my friend currently has straight A's, but I;m pretty sure she cant escape a B in one class this year. Will the interviewers bag on her for that one slipup? Will it hurt her chances of getting any scholarship? And has anyone who received the notification EVER NOT get either of the 2 scholarships?

No, she will be fine. The interview is low key. They won't ask about grades. Yes, they interview more people than the number who actually receive scholarships.

Merit scholarships from USC that my S has received are all renewable (up to 4 years total), provided he is "making satisfactory progress toward graduation" at USC & getting at least a 3.0 GPA. One of is scholarships also requires him to stay in the School of Engineering.

NOT all merit scholarships are automtically renewed, so you need to read the terms of your award. USC makes the terms very clear & you can ask any questions you need to for additional clarity.

Additionally, you DO need to reapply every year for renewal of the engineering merit scholarship, but it is renewed if you meet conditions above.
