does anyone know if for trustee and presidential scholarship consideration, usc looks at highest sitting scores? i know that most privates, like usc, request the highest score of each in each individual sitting, but do they go by this for the scholarships as well? also, i know that on the website they say top 1-2% for trustee and 2-3% for presidential as far as SAT scores go. does this mean they will not look at the writing scores since there is no national percentage for any of the writing scores? im asking because i got a 750cr, and 780m on two different sittings, so i just want to know if i would have a chance to get these scholarships. thanks in advance

Um... I cant answer the question about writing... But as for the total SAT, they look at your best combined - not single sitting.

Well I got in today and I had 670cr, 720m, 770w and I think I'm going to interview for a scholarship.

gcards, so if you were scholarship worthy, it said that in your acceptance packet?

Smile...didn't say that, but on some other threads, it means we probably get to interview and will find out in a few days. This is when USC lets those who make the cut know about the scholarship/ acceptance. I'm like 99% sure. Most decisions don't come out until March, although they will start rolling from now on.

wow, this is fun. I'm so excited to go live where the sun is... (from Wisconsin)

hehhe congradulations you guys deserve it *beams with a smile

If you already got your acceptance, you are probably going to get the invitation for the interview.

flatxca, how do u know this?

Don't worry smilefriends, you should be getting the scholarship interview info within this week. I've never heard of anyone not being considered for a scholarship getting their acceptance letter before March, but I could be wrong.

That was my understanding also. My son got his acceptance in late Jan and an alum told me the same thing. A week or so later, he got the invite to go out there for the interview.

are the travel expenses for interview fully covered

so i come to school today and low and behold six of us got accepted. does this mean it will be harder for me to get a scholarship?

Just a question..does anyone have a rough estimate of how many people they are considering for the merit scholarships? I heard from one person that they thought around 1500, but does anyone know for sure?

gcards1 ~ Where are you in the country? I don't see a lot of kids accepted from the East yet.

reasonabledad,

We live in eastern PA and my daughter was accepted the other day as well.

I'm from Oregon. I think it's crazy how many of us got in already. We had at least 20 people apply (last year we were 8/16). One girl who got in already got into Stanford EA, although USC was her first choice (she'll have a tough decision). Last year, someone got a full ride from my school, but turned it down. Will that effect us?

do you go to CA to interview? and then do you stay with a student or in a hotel?

my friend just got accepted, and if she's going over for an interview, i would like to go over just to look at the school with her.

^ From what I understand, the interview is on the USC campus. We have to go overnight (schoolnight....awesome, I get to miss some school! :)) and stay at a current student's dorm, and the interview is the next morning.

And gcards1...I don't think it will...why would they penalize you for something someone else did? Then again...I'm not positive. Maybe someone else can enlighten you.

so would it be impossible for me to visit the school while she/other scholarship applicants are there?
