Every time that people ask where I am applying to as a transfer and I tell them that USC is my first choice they always say..."oh, you want to go to the University of South-Central", or "why do you want to go to the University of Spoiled Children". Anybody else get these or similar remarks? And is there any truth behind the names?

dunno about spoild children part but yea USC is near the ghetto

University of South Central applies, its practically IN the ghetto.

but spoiled children etc... not so much.

I would like to go to USC but Westwood > South Central LOL

that area is not south central, its south la, south central is further down the 110 freeway

University of spoiled children definately applies. I have worked with a lot of their graduates that were definately not very intelligent or hardworking. Their parents did have money though. They usually don't make it for very long....

University of Spoiled CHildren may have been truthful in the past, but that nickname has since been shed. I visited the school in January and the majority of students I met were hardworking and had at least some financial aid. I did not have any issues with anyone I met over the 3 days I stayed on campus. I did not meet anyone who seemed less than intelligent or stuck-up in the slightest. The people who have given it those nicknames are normally UCLA grads/students/fans. From my personal experience I don't think Spoiled Children applies anymore. It is not in South Central but it is in the ghetto so that name almost makes sense.

Thanks for the info....
