USC or CMU

Hi
I was really lucky and got accepted to two real good schools, USC and Carnegie Mellon.

I know that CMU has way better art program than USC, but I’m concerned about the academic and social life at CMU. I’m not sure if I can successfully survive in that competitive and serious academic circumstances; I will try my best, but since I am competing with the smart and hard-working students, I don’t have any confidence in myself. I know that academics at USC is competitive, too, but I don’t think it’s worse than CMU. However, USC is known for the parties and sports, so I believe that there will be chance for me to relax and enjoy my college life.

If I think about my future, I think CMU would be better choice since it offers good program, but I’m worried whenever I imagine myself at CMU. (my mom wants me to choose CMU)

Should I choose USC so that I can enjoy my college life, or should I think about my future and choose CMU.

Choosing college is harder than applying. :frowning:

Both are amazing schools (tied on US News) at 25th best in the country. Other than their ranking, they are polar oposites. USC has an amazing sports program and party scene. It has a great location in Socal, but not a very nice neighborhood its in. CMU is a much more focused and competitive school in my opinion. There is far less partying and not the same atmosphere for sports. Go the college that you will be most happy at.
