I’ve been admitted to both schools as a transfer and I have to choose quickly since the fall semester is so near! Both are offering me roughly equal amounts of financial aid (tuition is covered but I have to pay for housing and other expenses, so it’ll cost me maybe 10-15K a year, with USC being a bit more ), and I’m planning on doing premed while majoring in international relations. Acting is a passion of mine, so I was leaning towards USC, but I’m also wavering on Michigan. Which school in general would be a better fit, given alumni relations, job/career placement, and transfer-friendliness? Also, what’s Ann Arbor like (I’ve been to LA, but not to MIchigan). Thanks so much!
You are in an extremely enviable position. Congrats! Given that cost sounds about even, I’d visit A2 (asap) and just go where you felt most at home. I felt 100% at home at both schools, so for me, it would be a coin-flip.
A2 is fantastic, btw. Of course completely different from LA. Only issue for me in A2 were the winters, but looking back, I’m glad I experienced them.
Let us know where you land, Fight On and Go Blue!
I know nothing about USC but can speak a little bit about Michigan. Ann Arbor is one of the best college towns in the country. Super vibrant. Of course there is a wee bit of weather difference between USC and Michigan ; )
In terms of academics, you will be in great shape no matter which you choose.
Thank you guys so much! I appreciate the input and hope to make my decision soon
Have they both given you a detailed evaluation of transfer credit?
Have you mapped out the curriculum for your major(s) in both places over the time you have remaining?
Given the requirements you still need to meet, is there any substantial difference in efficiency and freedom to take the electives you want?
Both have so much to offer - I’d take a close look to see whether your ability to take advantage of all the opportunities will be roughly equal, or if one stands out as making it easier to do everything you want to do in the limited time you will have.
Congrats, either way!
