USC Professor Receives Korea's Highest Prize for Medicine

<p>It was just announced South Korea has awarded USC Keck Professor, Dr. Jae Jung, their highest award for medicine. Dr. Jae Jung will receive the 2012 Ho-Am Prize in Medicine. This prestigious award includes a monetary prize of $265,000.</p>

<p>Dr. Jae Jung is the Hastings Foundation Professsor of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology at Keck. Among other honors he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.</p>

<p>This has been an eventful week for SC with the news of two prestigious awards, one to Dr. Jae Jung and the Holberg International Memorial Prize of $775,000 to Dr. Manuel Castells, Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism, from the country of Norway.</p>

<p>Dean Marilyn Flynn of the USC School of Social Work has received the International Rhoda G. Sarnat Award. This honor is given by the NASW for outstanding contributions to the field of social work. It also includes a monetary award.</p>

<p>Dean Flynn has intiated new innovative programs, especially those which benefit veterans. The USC School of Social Work is considered one of the tops in the nation.</p>
