USC Professor Awarded the Holberg International Memorial Prize

<p>One of the most prestigious awards given to scholars is Norway's Holberg International Memorial Prize. Some consider this the highest award in the field of communication and social sciences.</p>

<p>Dr. Manuel Castells of the USC Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism has just received the award for 2012. Included is a prize of $775,000. Dr. Castells received his Ph.D. from the Sorbonne. His honors and awards take an entire page, but here are some highlights:</p>

<p>He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Politcal and Social Sciences, Fellow of the Academie Aeuropea, Fellow of the Spanish Royal Academy of Economics and has authored numerous books and articles.</p>

<p>Dr. Castells has been knighted by France, Finland, Chile and Portugal.</p>
