USC SCA Film Production Interview

based on last year’s experience, they should mail out acceptances/rejections around 3/22, right after returning from USC spring break. And they go on break next weekend. [-O<

@dana37, thanks for replying. The professor did not give any indication about when the acceptances would be sent out but he did say that the application readers (him being the one reading my app) “had to have everything in within about 2 weeks”. This interview was about 2 weeks ago, so perhaps the admissions finalizes everything the professors bring to them and make their decisions that way? I’m not sure.
I was asked by email to interview and as soon as I had answered the phone, the professor told me how competitive USC is and that the interview does not gauruntee acceptance but he said that rarely does an undergrad applicant get asked to interview. He also said that I was among his top applicants and just went over some things regarding application, mostly my film and essays. I don’t think 18 minutes is any bad sign of not being accepted. Bear in mind that the professors read tons of applications and are trying to make their decisions on time. Perhaps one professor likes to chat longer than another in phone calls. You never really know how everything works. If your daughter was asked to interview, she is a very good candidate already based on what the professor I spoke to had told me. I don’t think they’d be calling someone that isn’t. Either way, for me if I don’t get in, I am pleased that the professor talked to me because he really was a cool guy that I enjoyed speaking to and has given me even more motivation to make movies than I had before…which was a lot.

@moorelovin1 Wow! Yours lasted an hour! You guys must have hit it off well. That seems like a good sign. :slight_smile: Mine definitely didn’t last that long. @dana37 Don’t worry! Mine only lasted that long, too.

Were any of you interviewed for the Lucas, Cohen or any other available SCA scholarships?

@Justshootme No, were you?!

No, and I haven’t been able to find any posts on CC for sca scholarship interviews in the past, which makes me wonder how the selection is done or if the Skype interview may actually be a scholarship qualifying interview as well.

I had a skype interview for 40 minutes that went vey well in February with a professor. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a package in the mail, so I assume I didn’t get in.

The two people I know that got in today had a phone interview. Good luck and God bless you all.

Thanks! And don’t give up hope yet! You still have a chance of getting in! :slight_smile:

My d was rejected for USC today. But she got in to UCLA film and is a Regents Scholar! So it’s all good, and will save us a lot of money. Best of luck to all of you!!

@socal1997 I’m in the same situation as you and assume many others as well. I agree with @filmdreamer23, don’t give up hope!

Did anyone who had the SKYPE interview get in for Fall, Spring or receive TTP? Should I be worried next year if I receive a request for SKYPE interview? I watched your great films and read your thoughts about your interviews, so I hope you all got in.

My D got into SCA this year after an interview, although last year she did not.
