USC Sophomore Transfer... Should I even bother?

Hey everyone. I’m attending a CC and wow I feel like I am missing out on so much on an educational level. Really want to attend a university as a sophomore transfer but I can’t find many in California that allows this, besides the “really hard to get into” USC. I hadn’t looked into this school yet because I don’t want to get my hopes up. Anyways, do I have a chance as a sophomore transfer? If not, then can anyone recommend some California universities that do allow sophomore transfers that I have a chance at?
High school:
3.67 unweighted
4.04 weighted
Took AP Lang, Bio, Physics, and Calc AB. Got 3s in all of them except AP Lang where I got a 5. Took English honors in 11th grade and accelerated courses + chemistry honors in freshman/sophomore year.
I was also in Show Choir for a year and a half and volunteered 120 hours at a retirement home
SAT score: 1830 (took the last test of the senior year only… Wasn’t prepared, not sure if I should retake)
College: pretty sure I’ll get a 3.75 this semester if not a 4.0; taking calculus 1, psychology, philosophy, and English(skipped to the last course). Next semester I’ll be taking physics, chemistry, computer (Java), and another psychology course. Not sure how that’ll go over but I’m generally a good student

If I were to transfer as a sophomore, I’d be majoring as either undeclared or psychology. I’m considering Computer Science or Engineering too. I’ve heard from some people that universities are trying to get more girls in STEM and I’ve always been interested in math and physics and computers. Let me know what you guys think about that. Thanks

@boopboopbeep Other 4 year universities in California that accept sophomore year transfers are University of San Francisco, Santa Clara University, Pepperdine University, Chapman University, and University of La Verne. I’m sure there are also more colleges out there but I listed some from the top of my head. USC is definitely not the easiest school out there to get accepted into, but based on your stats listed above, I would say you have a pretty decent chance of getting accepted. Because you are a sophomore transfer, it is most likely you will be receiving a SGR instead of an accepted/denied decision immediately. SGR (Spring Grade Request) allows the admissions committee to see if you’ve kept up your grades all year round. You didn’t list much about your extracurriculars above so I cannot guarantee if you’re well-rounded or not but based on your GPA and AP scores, I’ll assume that you’re doing just as well, if not better, in CC right now

The deadline for transfer applications is coming up quickly and I think you’re in a good position to receive a SGR from the admissions committee. I think your reasoning for wanting to attend an institution that’s more academically challenging is a good topic for your personal statement. Remember to let USC know exactly why you want to attend their specific school, rather than just for the sake of transferring out of CC. Good luck!
