I just wanted to let you all in on a program I just found out about. I wish I had known last year, since USC is one of my top choices. It doesn't guarantee USC admission, but it certainly shows you're interested, and you get credit. I'm telling my younger brother and sister to take it for sure! It's called "Summer@USC" and they have classes for credit and non-credit. You can live on campus or be a commuter. There's one class you can get your whole writing portfolio done along with college essays. Also environmental science, logic and debate, IR, physiology, psychology, etc. Website is Summer@USC ? USC Summer Programs for high school students. Facebook is facebook/USCCollegeSummerPrograms. Good luck to everyone--hope we get our admissions letters soon.

$4598 minimum to receive credit!!!

It’s about $1300 for each credit now at USC, so this price is actually pretty expected.

^ Yeah but this is for high school…just go to a CC. The only reason USC would give preference to students from this program is that the students could likely pay the full sticker price.

Lisapbs,

Hey don’t forget about summer at the School of Cinematic Arts too! Check out these interesting programs –> [Summer Program Overview - USC School of Cinematic Arts](USC Cinematic Arts | Summer Program Overview)

My HS daughter is signed up for one of these SCA summer courses. She’s pretty fired up about it and so am I.

Summer schools are all about taking courses that aren’t offered at your HS during the year. SCA summer certainly qualifies under that definition! :)

Best,
Wheaty

I would go to a CC IF I could get into one in California…a bit impossble right now for high school students in CA, FYI. Also, I have yet to find a CC class that lets you actually follow doctors in the hospital setting or lawyers in the OJ Simpson court like USC’s do. I hope I get into Future Physicians or my second choice is Logic & Debate. The price is on par with other elite summer programs like Brown and Georgetown, and I’d rather atend USC. So I’d rather have guaranteed credit. CC credit is not automatic, even if I could find space in a CC class (I didn’t last year).

Sounds cool. I want to be a doctor or lawyer, so that’s not my thing. But I have a friend who wants to be a director, so I’ll tell him. Thanks for the info.

are there any summer programs for students who are going to be freshmans at another university that is not USC?
