I am a current junior and want to audition for the Thornton School of Music USC. I want to be a violin performance major. The problem though is my GPA-by the time application time comes around I will be in the 3.3-3.4 range. What is the minimum GPA they accept for music applicants? I am looking to have a SAT score in the 1450-1500+ range
I go to a difficult Private School and am taking AP English Language and Compositon plus an honors history class.
These are some of my music facts
-I play violin and viola and have been playing since the age of 5. I have been accepted to all-state orchestra every year since 8th grade and was chosen to play in the all-national honor ensembles symphony for 10th and 11th grade. I played with a youth symphony for 2 years and have done the “side-by-side” program with New World Symphony every year since 9th grade. Last summer i did a 7-week intensive music camp in the Adirondacks and the summer before i did a 4-week violin program at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. I have gotten numerous superior ratings at “solo and ensemble”
My EC:
-I have also done horseback riding since I was 5 years old and have been doing competitions since a very young age.
What are my chances for USC? Please let me know if my GPA will completely hinder my chances of getting in. Will a very high SAT score GREATLY improve my chances?
