<p>I play oboe and I was interested in auditioning for USC. Does playing oboe and being pretty good help a lot with getting into this college?</p>

<p>I am in Diablo Wind Symphony which is the top Honor band in the East SF Bay Area. It is directed by Dr. Hammer of UOP and John Maltester.</p>

<p>My GPA is rather low around 3.0
SAT - 1800
Eagle Scout
Certificate of Merit for Piano 10 years
Presidential community service award</p>

<p>Is there even a chance I might get in?</p>

<p>My suggestion is to thoroughly prepare and retake the SAT exam. Also, you may wish to try the ACT. Students at Thornton are at the highest level. Check out the USC website for Thornton and listen to some of the YouTube videos of the performance majors. </p>
