Domino: As of right now, I can't afford USC.. I'm waiting to see if they give me a merit scholarship or not. I want to go but they were kinda stingy with FinAid, they gave me a $9000 which still leaves over 30 grand for me to pay, which is way too much.

what other schools did you apply/get into?

I applied to nyu, uva, washington and maryland. Got rejected by washington and uva.. still waiting to hear from nyu and maryland

justaphase, what was your EFC? I thought USC meets 100% of demonstrated need.

My EFC was 21500. They gave me 18500 in total financial aid including loans, grants and work study. According to them, the Estimated Cost of Attendance is $44,722. So that still leaves me almost 5000 short of my need met. I'm thinking of appealing the financial aid package they gave me. Does that ever work?

BTW, my friend had an EFC of 18000, and they gave him twice the grant they gave me. I guess they base it on other things such as the CSS profile and tax returns.

Day 7: saturday

has anyone here gotten any changes on their oasis website regarding fin aid? they say thats another way to tell before hand if you've been accepted.

USC does use the CSS Profile more than FAFSA. Appealing works if you have an unusual circumstance that is not reflected in the PROFILE.

day 9..............

Brace yourselves, Tommorow we enter the double digits. It could be anyday now.

you know your into it bad when you start dreaming about sc transfer decisions. Ive had atleast 3-4 dreams about it sp far (both positive and negative ones) :p

I thought I was the only one! Sometimes i day dream in lecture about coming home and receiving my packet. I also had a dream, when my dad called me at work and told me and i was going crazy. i think i am obsessed with this school

you guys think you are obsessed? thats all i'm thinking 24-7, even in my sleep. I seriously think i'm going nuts.

I know how u feel man. Dont worry though, u have a good shot. I think I recall you had at least a 3.6 or something, so you should be fine. I, on other hand, should be worrying (3.21!!!!)

yea, i think we're all on this forrum for the same reason, obsession. the key is to just forget about it and not worry. worrying won't make your packet come any faster, or help your chances. i know its easier said than done, and me posting is proof that even im not following my own advice. and yea, i've had those dreams too.

day 10 (i think)

an admissions officer from annenberg called me today concerning the fulfillment of my math requirement (?!) after pouring over the transfer booklet and talking in circles with admissions for the past eight months, i find out that my four years of math might not fulfill the requirement. BUT, the officer said my application is very strong and is "looking good," so she made a note and told me she'd do everything she could to make it a non-issue. :-)!

on an equally exciting note, i got an overdue call from the l.a. times today and i have an interview for a summer editorial assistant position on friday!

oxygenbarfight, all you need to fulfill their math requirement is intermediate algebra. did she happen to say when to expect an answer?

she did not say. i'm guessing it could be by sometime next week.

i thought the math requirement was calculus. hmmm im probably wrong though. Anyways, thats cool they called u and told u its lookin good. she wouldnt be saying that for no reason. someone else posted in the transfer forum that they got in today, so the packets should be coming in anyday now :)

guys... i hate to like burst your bubble but you are freshmen, right? You have to stop tormenting yourselves that it is coming "any day." What's coming "any day" is your spring grade request. They look at spring grades for EVERY freshmen. So once you know your spring grades have gotten in, then you can start worrying about your acceptance coming. I talked to my admissions person on the phone yesterday. I told her how I have a deposit due for another school by Friday. She told me that she was looking at my app and that as long as my spring grades were good then I shouldn't worry. But she specifically told me that she could not make any final decision until she saw spring grades. This goes for anyone applying as a freshmen.
