hahahaha sean11-dont worry (well im still applying to UCLA and Cal)

It's getting more and more competitive to get into USC, but you're still above the averages (I believe it's 1430, and 4.0). I would say it's probably a match. As far as your scholarships, I'd say you probably have a pretty good chance of getting a nice-sized one. There are some pretty phenomenal people that apply, so it's probably competitive, but I would think you would get something (sorry for such a generic answer, but I really have no idea :) ). I got a really nice financial aid there, but my large grant was need-based, not merit-based. I hope you are able to come here!

thanks uschicka

do u know if nat'l merit finalists (assuming i become one) get at least a half scholarship??

shamelessly bumping

uschicka,

there's no way its average is 1430. that's the average for schools like Brown and Duke, not USC.

according to http://afaweb.esd.usc.edu/USC-AFA/upload_images/ACF5F.pdf (2003-04 profile)

the middle 50% is 1270-1420 among the matriculants. i guess the average is somewhere around the middle (1340 or so).

syawn,

here's the good news for you (from the link above): 25% received merit-based scholarship. you score is way above their average so i think you are in good shape to be among that 25%. looks like it's not a matter of if but how much you'll get. good luck!

You'll get into almost all those schools and frankly I'd be surprised if you didn't get into Stanford. UCLA is practically a lock...you guys over-rate UCLA. It's a good school but if you've got a high gpa and a 1450 you're pretty much in. USC you're also a DEFINITE lock. They could very well give you a full scholarship but a half scholarship is more likely. Great school if you're interested in business or film and great connections coming out of it.

You'll get into almost all those schools and frankly I'd be surprised if you didn't get into Stanford.

I wouldn't call Stanford a match. While his/her academic records are strong, none of the ECs are real hook for Stanford. Essay would be a huge factor.

wow thanks for ALL your comments

yes, my first TWO choices are USC and UCLA-ill be happy to get into both, especially UCLA, knowing how random their admissions process can be. and ill also be happy to get at least a half scholarship at USC, cuz for sure ill be needing it.
does anyone know about their presidential (half) scholarship for nat'l merit finalists??

are my stats good for ENGINEERING, cuz i know the game changes when u apply to engineering. for USC, i put down chemical engineering w/ an emphasis in polymer science, and for UCLA, i put down materials science engineering. can u guys give me some more specific feedback considering that?

THANKS A LOT FOR ALL YOUR COMMENTS!

gotta bump

I have found that people who live around Stanford (no matter how incredible their stats are) tend to not get accepted. The top 3 kids in my schools senior class didnt get accepted(ended up going to Upenn, Yale and Williams). I think they are trying to broaden their student body, or they might just hate my school. If you live anywhere near stanford, i would say it is a reach, but the further away the better (in my opinion)

hahahaha good-i live in so cal
but it doesnt matter-im just applying to see if i get in-i dont have my heart set on stanford

what r my chances for usc's bac/md program??

bump...thanks

hungry for opinions...thanks

o man someone please comment

back after almost a month...
i already had an interview at usc, so hope that helped my chances
can i please get some more new comments from u guys??
thanx

please comment

I don't see why you won't gain acceptance to every single school on your list, with possibly the exception of Stanford (since that school's admissions is pretty unpredictable).

Are you sure your UC GPA is correct

9 AP's is great but most people with that number it is impossible to get a high UC gpa such as your self.

9 AP's is this during 1o and 11

no matter what your in at any uc

If you become a finalist and list USC as your first choice school, you get half tuition, don't you? That's what I've been led to believe. And they give out lots of other scholarships too. If I were to go there (even though I've decided on somewhere else) I would be a good candidate for the Renaissance scholarship for double majors (Theatre and PoliSci). Just an example.

UCs and USC - match
Stanford, Hopkins-close match

I know someone who went to JHU on similar scores - you should be fine.
