I was accepted to Annenberg in early march, online it still says that a decision is being made, nothing changed even though i got my letter and everything. as for the weather, this week its changed from being in the 50s/60s to being in the 80s and ive been dying but its hard to beat sun and palm trees!

this is so easy:

would going to cornell be $50,000 a year better?

WHOA your status page doesn't say accepted or anything online? there's no extra link? =0
is there hope for all us constantly paranoid hopefuls? lol

AH! btw i completely misunderstood the original post's situation
for some reason i thought he said his dad worked at cornell... my bad

honestly i think a free USC really couldnt be beat. if the sit. was reversed I would say go to cornell. all things being equal for me i may lean toward SC, but i don;t think cornell is $200,000 better than USC

yeah you have a pretty good deal at USC
esp if cornell is sticker price
we've decided for you haha..
now i'm curious what cornell ppl are saying..

Well I'm a Cornell person as of now only because I got in there. I was going to apply to USC but didn't since it was far away (I"m in New England). Of course, I would be paying for both at full prices since I don't have any faculty connections like the OP. With my situation, I was thinking that Cornell is the obviously better option. Maybe?

The obvious question seems to be, do you want to go into hotel management?

The only reason to pick USC over Cornell would be because you like that area of L.A.

Cornell has everything USC has and better. USC might be in Maxine Waters' district, but it is not reflective of her. When asked if they had liberals to balance out Michael Chertoff and Ann Coulter as speakers, the USC guide said "Ron Paul," who is apparently the most liberal guy asked to speak at the campus.

You would expect USC to be liberal and students are shocked at how is right wing it is. What I am curious about is what percentage of kids who write liberal essays get accepted. I bet it's low.

Cornell is at the top in every subject and it is very liberal. Some of the deans were trashing GW Bush at one orientation. Ithaca is even more liberal than L.A.

The only problem with Ithaca are all the trees. There are so many trees that they seem like walls. There are beautiful lakes and rivers in Ithaca.

Do you know which area of business you want? Right now, the hotel industry is part of the economic down turn which is why I would be reluctant to take on debt to attend Cornell vs. free tuition at USC. My son visited Cornell and wanted USC over Cornell. He did not like Ithaca. It is a very difficult city to travel to because flights are limited. Ithaca has a small town feel. Very cold in the winter. My vote is to go to USC undergrad and if you want to attend Cornell for grad school, you would get the benefit of the Ivy degree if that is important to you.

Wow, no. Just, no.

First, it's offensive to imply that USC discriminates admission based on political viewpoint. Unless you have any evidence to support that, I'd shut that up.

Second, USC is anything but "right wing". Perhaps it is more politically balanced than most universities but still the majority of students and professors are clearly to the left. If not, why is the USC Democrats organization way larger than USC Republicans?

Third, you can't judge based on one students response. In my time at USC, visitors have included Henry Waxman, Wesley Clark, Barack Obama, Michael Moore.

If you don't think Michael Moore is liberal enough, you're too far to the left :)

Los angeles has beautiful scenery as well, although USC is in a more urban area, not too far on eaither siade you can find beaches, mountains, forests, chaparral, etc. In LA you can balance city and wilderness...cornell, not as much
