USC vs. Cal Poly SLO vs. UCSB

Anyone have any opinions?
I am majoring in electrical engineering.
USC is expensive but if I get financial aid then i could go. So, lets assume I have enough financial aid, and money is not the issue.

I don't know about any of the electrical engineering at any of the schools, but USC is the best in every sense I know....

If you don't get the $. Consider Cal Poly since you're in. I believe they have a program with USC whereby you get your BS in Eng at CalPolySLO, then can get an Masters at USC in 1 year. I think you have to aim for it from the start. The Cal Poly counselor can tell you all about it.

Congrats for getting into Cal poly as an engineering major!! If you got into engineering for Cal Poly, then you should definitely go there. It's one of the most pretigeous schools for engineering, and totally tops USC and SB in this major. And it's very inexpensive.

the only thing about USC though, is that its really a school for life, the alumni association and everything. and it is also pretty prestigious in its own right. But cal poly slo is hands on learning which i find very inviting and it is also a school that companies look for graduates to hire right out of school.

Where, zizi, do you see Cal Poly ranked above SC's Viterbi School of Engineering? Could you please give us a link?
I checked rankings on the internet. I was unable to find any that indicated Cal Poly was ranked over SC's Viterbi.
On U.S. News Viterbi graduate school was ranked 8th in the nation. The undergraduate school was not ranked that high, but offers the a whole range of engineering specialties. Some of these specialties are at the cutting edge of technology such as Biomedical (Biochemical), Chemical (Nanotechnology) and a unique program Computer Science/Business Administration.
Nobel Prize winner, George Olah, holds a joint appointment at the Viterbi School and USC College. Also, USC Viterbi is one of only six schools in the nation with two or more elected members of the National Academy of Engineering in 2009. Membership in the Academy is the highest professional distinction that can be accorded an engineer. SC Viterbi now has 33 academy members.

Sloan Fellowships are one of the most prestigious academic awards. In 2009 SC faculty received three out of only 118 given in the nation. One was awarded to
a Viterbi faculty member.

A higher honor is the National Medal of Science. Two faculty members have received the National Medal.

Cal Poly SLO would be better for your money. But I wouldn't take these rankings that seriously because it states Cal Poly SLO is better than Harvey Mudd College.

Peer review is part of these rankings, so I guess other college's don't view Harvey Mudd and USC as highly as they do w/ others.

I guess they still believe USC to be a "party" school and Mudd to be an "unknown" school since they only have like 200 people going in every year. That's just my hypothesis haha.
