I’m having trouble deciding between the University of Southern California and Emory. Not considering costs at this time as I expect to receive similar financial aid packages. I’m pre-med and would like to either double-major or major in Anthropology and Biology (or Health and Humanity at USC). Thanks!
Getting into medical school (spouse is a physician) is dependent on grades, MCAT and medical research; where you do your undergraduate work is less important. Pick a school that you feel is a good fit for you, will help you achieve your goals, and is well regarded. SC is a strong school with a very supportive and successful alumni network. Emory is a great school but so is SC so don’t overlook it. Good luck.
I also want to ideally live in So Cal after graduation and attend med school there as well.

In that case, there’s no compelling reason to pick Emory over USC.
Acceptance to medical schools in CA is not an easy thing. Paging @mom2collegekids!

I’m complicated by the fact that now I got into Cornell! No idea which one to choose!
Both are excellent institutions. Maybe it does not mean anything for undergrads, but USC’s med school is located seven miles away from the main campus. During LA rush hour traffic, that is an hour’s commute. Emory’s med school is located next to the main campus, and is also next to the CDC, so collaboration and research might be easier.
If costs are comparable, I’d probably choose Cornell unless I had a pathological aversion to the cold. But that’s just me.
