USC vs Michigan decision?

I will be committing to either University of Michigan or University of Southern California soon.
Two questions:

  1. Which school is known more both nationally and globally?

  2. Which school would best prepare me for applying to medical schools? Students of which school have higher chance of getting into medical schools? Sciences (biology and neuroscience) are better at Michigan or USC?

Thanks!
P.s. The cost of both is the same so do not consider financial aspects.

“1) Which school is known more both nationally and globally?”

Hard to say. Depends on where you are, and whom you ask. On the West Coast, I give the edge to USC. In the Midwest and on the East Coast, I give the edge to Michigan. Globally, both are respected, but Michigan again has the edge in most quarters.

I do not think it makes a difference which of those two you attend if you are premed.

Since cost is not a concern, go with your gut. But are you sure they cost the same? Are you getting FA or a scholarship from one or both? Full cost of attending USC is roughly $15k/year more than attending Michigan. It is not a huge amount, but it is worth noting.

Yes! Since I’m getting need-based financial aid for both they end up costing the same amount.

I’m making a similar decision. What school did you end up choosing and why?

I think both are well known, and very employable, very good with medical school outcomes. Which one do you prefer?
