I got into USC's College of Arts and Sciences for international relations (which is my 100% choice of concentration), but I also have the options of attending NYU Stern's program in Business and Political Economy, where I get to spend 2 years in NYC, 1.5 years in London and a semester in Asia. I also go into GWU's Elliot School of Internaitonal Affairs, which is in the middle of DC with all these internships (the university, btw, has a 94% internship participation rate among undergrads).

What should chooosee, please help me out guys!! Who is better in terms of financial aid, IR academics, friendliness, etc.?

If you haven’t already recieved it, GWU is AMAZING with financial aid; i got 41,000, only 7,000 in loans. I’m hoping USC will be somwhat good, too. honestly w/ internaltional relations it’s a no brainer…u have DC there and limited resources/internships you WILL NOT find anywhere else.

im decidiing between Northwestern, USC and GWU for either journalsim/poly sci or public relations so i’m in a similar boat.

even tho i love USC…i have to say the NYU stern program does sound AWESOME!! the opportunities coming out of stern PLUS international relations?? that really opens up your options and job opportunities and who would complain about spending a year and half in london?!? wow if i knew about that i would have deff applied there!

My suggestion is to try to determine, if you can, which area of international relations you are interested in. If you are more interested in the Pacific Rim-Asia, then go to USC. If you are more interested in international relations as it effects government in Washington DC, then consider GW. I think NY is (used to be?) investment finance capital and international relations would be more geared towards the business side at NYU-but I don’t know this for a fact. GWU and NYU are very urban without a real campus like USC. You really should think about which side of international relations you want to focus on (government-go to GW, business finance-NYU, Pacific Rim-USC). I hope this makes sense.

mdcissp, thanks! Your advice clarified my feelings about these schools and helped me sort out all of the information about IR education that I’ve received so far. You’re awesome :)

JW Muller, what in the world is that song that you sent to me??! From hte first moment it made me burst out laughing; is it the real NYU’s anthem for football games or something?

BTW, does NYU have an athletics dept. at all? They seem like their athletic dept would be an fbla or a speech team :] personally, I cannot picture an NYU quarterback! WHere would they practice, anyway?
