USC vs. UCSD vs. Emory

I am an Undecided student with a Pre-Med concentration.

I am a California resident, so UCSD will be cheaper than the other options.

Is Emory's ranking/small class size and USC's world-renown name worth the extra $30,000?

Any feedback would help. I have no idea which to chose.

Thanks!

bumpity bump

Pre-med? You’ll need to save your money for med school. UCSD seems like a good choice to me.

IS that 30K PER YEAR? No way it is not worth it. UCSD is a PREMIERE pre-med university.

If I were you, I would choose UCSD without a minute of consideration.

I would go to ucsd because it is cheaper and you would still be getting the same type of education. ucsd is still a good name for medical school

UCSD and Emory are both very good for premed. USC is a distant step back.

But you know, pre-med is not necessary for med school. Take the 8-9 courses or whatever is considered the premed Core, and take everything else in Philosophy, math, linguistics, anthropology, geography, whatever interests you.

As far as BIO goes, UCSD is ranked #6 in the country at the Ph.D. level. I imagine that means it is a stellar, incredible faculty.

OP – got my rankings a little off. At the PH.D. level, there are 5 general areas, each comprised of 6-11 subcategories.

In the general area of Biological Sciences, UCSD is #4.
In the general area of Math/Physical Sciences, UCSD is #9.
