<p>The USC Shoah Foundation is part of the Dornsife School of Letters, Arts and Sciences. The distinguished foundation has preserved in digital form over 52,000 testimonies of individuals who were victims of the Holocaust. The foundation is in the process of adding testimonies from more recent victims or witnesses to genocide.</p>
<p>The current director, Dr. Steve Smith, has been named the inaugural holder of the UNESCO Chair of Genocide Education. Dr. Smith is a recognized leader in the field. He earned his Bachelor of Divinity from the University of London and studied at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew & Jewish Studies before receiving his Ph.D. from the Department of Theology and Philosophy at University of Birmingham in the UK.</p>
<p>Dr. Smith was a founding member of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance and the Co-founder of the Aegis Trust. He and Dr. Wolf Gruner, Chair of Jewish Studies and Professor of History, have been working together to assist scholars in conducting research projects on genocide.</p>
