<p>The University of Southern California will add another art school to the campus. The USC Kaufman School of Dance will enroll the first freshmen students in fall of 2015. Philanthropist, Glorya Kaufman, has made a gift to SC which will not only add a huge dance center to the campus, but also endow faculty positions. The dance center is now under construction and will join the USC Thornton School of Music, USC School of Dramatic Arts, School of Architecture, Roski School of Fine Arts and the USC School of Cinematic Arts. </p>
<p>The Kaufman School of Dance will be a conservatory of dance within a large research university. A unique feature will be interaction with SC's five other art schools. Dean Robert Cutietta will lead the school and Jodie Gates has been selected as Director. The freshmen class is expected to be in the 15-20 range. </p>
<p>Courses will be offered in choreography, ballet, modern dance, jazz dance, dance for the camera and business of dance as well as technique and traditional dance artistic training. Courses will lead to a BFA in Dance. Minors in dance will be available. The selection process will include an audition and completion of the common application.</p>
<p>The new dance center is located at the edge of campus and features classrooms, dance studios, dressing rooms, , faculty offices, wellness and dance support center and a theater. The brick building will surround a landscaped courtyard.</p>
<p>Representatives from the new school will attend dance festivals in Dallas, Miami, Spokane and Chicago. More information is available on twitter and facebook.
