@yoskis Your explaination actually makes sense. It could have been that I wasn’t processed yet. You gave me some hope !

Mine lists my first choice major as well… jeez I could not be more anxious for next week!

I don’t think it means anything, mine says Media Arts and Practice which is my second choice - which could indicate something but I spent no time on that application instead choosing to focus on my Production application. A professor contacted me for Production and told me (after a 30 minute interview) that " I had her vote for admissions and just had to get past AdCom". I find it highly unlikely that my second choice major, and even harder one to get into, would be what I got instead of my first choice. For all those who are “reading the tea leaves” I would chalk it up to USConnect glitch. There seems to be plenty of stuff in their complex system that triggers changes in their admissions portals, one needs only to look to the past in order to find evidence.

@Understated but why would it list your second choice? Or put Undecided for my son? It seems like a glitch to me. And believe me it’s confusing news for us to take if it’s true. My son was accepted to five Game Design programs (RIT, RPI, WPI, Drexel and DePaul) and he didn’t get into either of his game related majors at USC if this is true.

Those of you whose tabs are showing something other than “unknown unknown,” does your status check still say that your financial aid is “in review”? Or is it something else?

I echo your thoughts exactly, my apologies if it seems that I am saying this means anything. In truth I have no idea what it means, I noticed it 5 days ago and just thought it was a glitch. I think the FA and Adcom departments and separated enough that one saying one thing does not mean anything. Although I dont know enough about either department. To sum it up I would just assume its a glitch.

Not to play devil’s advocate @Understaed and @GamerGal27 but college admissions is unpredictable, especially with hyper-selective majors like game design and film production. It is possible that the professor just did not get past the adcom or changed his mind.

I’m not putting too much into this, it is better to just wait the next few, long days.

yeah I understand that @littletowndreams but logically it would make even less sense to have a more lucrative and exclusive major like Media Arts be what I got into - especially since I really did spend no time on the supplements. I am going to stop feeding the flames however, I agree with you lets just wait.

@sweetbeet, mine is in review, but I think that’s because I still have one more form to hand in (one of those that they wanted “ASAP” but without a deadline)

Son’s FA status:
Class: undergraduate
Major: his first choice
Application in Review: pending (yellow clock)

@sweetbeet, mine is also in review

@understated You have brought hope ! :)

Is this bad news?

@EddysGotMilk That’s exactly what I have too. I know alamemom and a lot of other posters have reassured us, but I’m still wondering and freaking out

And we did not apply for financial aids.

Is it a good news?

Just hold tight. USC is NOT announcing anything online until March 29th. They know people peek at their USC connect to read the tea leaves and honestly - until the official date the notations don’t mean anything and are known to change between now and then. Doing this will make you crazy (I know - we were in this boat last year).

Plus - there were links that looked like they were for admitted students that turned out to be on EVERYONE’s page.

Trust me - the mail goes out on the 25th. The online decisions will be available on the 29th. I’m not even sure they’re finished stuffing the envelopes and packets. It’s a lot of work

And one word to the wise - a few years ago students began trying to hack into east coast school systems a day early to see their online decisions and as a result those who had been accepted saw those offers rescinded.

<a href=“B-schools may rescind offers following hacks | The Daily Pennsylvanian”>B-schools may rescind offers following hacks | The Daily Pennsylvanian;

By the way - I just saw the dumbest post on the USC Admissions Facebook page. A young woman told USC she just got accepted by their rival and they should take that into account. Sometimes student strategies have me scratching my head.

To add some fuel to the fire mine also lists my first choice major (industrial and systems engineering) and undergraduate…! Can’t help but hope this is a good sign. I also didn’t finish submitting documents until a little over a week ago.

@lanawinters does it say “Application in Review” for your FA status?

@EddysGotMilk Yes, “Application in Review” with everything received.
