Used online textbook came as Instructors edition

Hi there, I ordered my textbooks a month ahead of class and one of the used ones I got arrived as an instructors edition.

I looked it through and it appears to be the same as the student edition except the giant bold letters on the cover “NOT FOR SALE OR RESALE”

Well it just so happens that sitting in the front row the first day the teacher picks up my book to show the class what to get and after pauses to look at it, she obviously saw it was an instructors edition. Class was really crowded with waitlisters and i had to get to my next class so I didn’t get a chance to ask her about using the book…she said the book isn’t even needed just for at home supplementary reading.

My question is:

Do you think I should go during office hours and explain that the used book i bought showed up that way and ask if it’s alright. Or is it best to just not bug her about it since there are no questions or assignments based off the text?

I would definitely ask if it is okay…you don’t want to be accused of cheating although really you would only be cheating yourself if you looked up homework answers.

You should talk to her about it. Having a book with answers can be a curse and a blessing. Sometimes you need the answer to see what mistakes you are doing.
