Hello, I am entering college this coming fall and I definitely plan majoring in Finance but I needed some insight/opinions as to another major, being that I plan on double-majoring. What other majors would allow a Finance student to pick up skills that would be useful for one planning on working in the corporate world? Thank you!

engineering

Pure mathematics. If you can swing it.

math/applied math, statistics, or comp sci

what if you dont want to be a quant

Don't worry; even if you studied math and econ, with just an undergraduate degree nobody in their right mind would even think of making you a quant. Math and econ would give you a good handle on the basics of working in global markets. For IBD you'd need much less mathematical ability.

one where you actually learn something, rather than being trained to do something superficial, just for money.

runs away

then school should be free, or close to it.

try doing at least a minor in maths if not a major

If only I could do both Engineering and Finance... :S People from my uni say it's almost impossible.

its almost impossible to complete that in 4 years at any university. Both of them have alot of requirements to complete.

takes careful planning, course overloading, AP courses, and summer courses
pain in the ass
