Im going to add one more section to what you posted above.
8. Other schools applied to: UCF (accepted), UF, FSU, University of Miami, Emory, Oxford of Emory
My top choice is USF though, at the moment.
I’m still waiting on my admissions decision to USF. I hope I received some notification soon.
Can you fill out the survey too? I want to be able to see what other people’s background info is too. I am kinda going crazy too checking MyUSF everyday (sometimes every hour even) for some extra information.
The main reason why USF is my top choice is mainly financial. A second reason is due to the fact that it is in the South. I want to stay either in Florida or Georgie.
Also, I can’t afford to go to a private university, unless I get a full ride. I know that I won’t qualify though for need-based aid. I don’t think that my test scores warrant a full ride at either UMiami or Emory. I think they need to be a little higher than that. I have Florida pre-paid also and I would qualify for Florida bright-futures. This means that I would not have to pay anything to go to school at USF or any other Florida state school.
I do not want to have to take out a student loan and go in debt because I want to go to either med school or dental school and those are really expensive.
Out of all of the possible Florida public universities, I like USF the best. Tampa is a nice city, it’s not a college-town. In addition, I preferred the campus to UF and UCF. They also have a good pre-med advisory program.
These are just a few of the reasons why I prefer USF, as you can see money is going to play a big role in my decision
As a side note, the funny thing is the day after I posted my original reply, I was accepted into USF!
thank you for your reply. Yes, USF applied last night. Although, have not been to either Tampa nor St Pete campuses. Have been to most other Florida schools and so far UF is my number 1 choice, albeit unlikely to get in.
How long did it take for USF to send you their decision? I also couldnt get a clear answer from college board how long it takes to schools receive SAT scores. You would think it is all automatic and takes less than a minute…
My stats for the record: 3.83 W gpa, 1970 SAT, varsity swimming 4 years, part time job.
It took about a month after they received my transcript (8/31), but they only started accepting in October. I was accepted Oct. 2nd.
For some reason, it can take a week or two (sometimes even longer) for them to receive scores. I, also, don’t get why they can’t receive them immediately. I think it may just be a way for collegeboard to charge extra.
Of course! Thank you for your honest response btw…

Other Schools I Applied To: UCF and FGCU
Senior Schedule: 6 dual enrollment classes and 3 FLVS classes
…do you think I have a good chance?
I hope my extensive list of extracurriculars, senior schedule, and community service makes up for my low test score!
Your senior year schedule has 6 DE classes. I believe that colleges like those. Also, you do have a lot of extracurriculars. I think that you have a good chance. They honestly should take all of that into account when looking at your application. Also, there is the fact that you applied so early. Since you have already applied, I think that you have a better chance now than if you would have waited a few months. I think some of last year’s seniors from my school had similar test scores to yours and lower GPAs and they were still accepted.
Extracurricular Activities: Played a few sports , internship for 3 years straight , only joined 2 clubs during high school. That's all I remember on top of my head. 312 Community Service Hours.
How do you know if accepted or no? Email? The page I am looking at shows that transcript was received on 10-5-2015 and application date is 9-30-2015, however, “we have not reached our decision”. Is it a bad sign?

Ugh I see that all of you received decisions so fast. My son applied on 9/8, SATs were received 9/14 and transcript was received 9/25 and he has heard nothing. I guess we can conclude that this is a bad sign?
