USF Admission Class of 2020

We applied October 1st, 1970 SAT, 3.0 GPA, 300 community hours, 4 years of varsity sports. Have not heard back…

So I applied to USF for the 2016 Fall term and I’d
appreciate if you could tell me if my chances are good or bad:
UW GPA: 2.88
Weighted GPA: 3.13
SAT: 1680 CR: 590 M: 560 W: 530
6 AP Courses, 2 AICE courses
I meet 4 of the 6 Academic Success factors
Essay: No
Various ECs and 200+ community service hours
I’m from out of state
My high school had a very hard and rigorous curriculum

Deferred upon receiving first term grades…

Accepted on 11/5/15

  1. Date applied: A week or two ago
  2. GPA Weighted: 4.2
  3. GPA Unweighted: 3.9
  4. ACT/ or SAT Scores: 30 ACT/1940 SAT
  5. Extracurricular Activities: Class Board, National Honor Society, community service, Science Olympiad, Spanish Club, lots of leadership positions, etc
  6. Ethnicity: Hispanic
  7. Major: Pre-Med (Medical Sciences) (advisory program), if I attend I'll be choosing Biomedical Sciences.
  8. In state

Still waiting on UF, FSU and UM.

To add to my first post, I also didn’t do the essay but worked really hard on my resume.

Son applied very early…everything was in by mid-August. Toured twice and USF is his top choice.

GPA Weighted: 3.9
GPA Unweighted: 3.6
ACT 24 with 9 writing score (superscore 25 with previously submitted score)
Extracurriculars: Probably weakest area. Involved in band, track and football freshman year, but only Key club the last three years, and DECA this year. Chose to work PT instead.

Ethnicity: White
Major: Business, Marketing
Out-of-state

In addition: 4 APs (Lang, Env Sci, Stats & Govt.) 3 dual enrollment, 6 years of language (4 Mandarin, 2 Spanish), has 6 of the 7 listed academic success factors so far. PSGPA won’t be known until January.

Seeing so many people hearing back within a week or two of applying, we’re beginning to wonder as well. A bit discouraging.

@firstrodeo I’m no admissions person so don’t take what I say to heart, but I have done more than enough research and I would say your son has a decent if not a really good shot at getting accepted. Good luck!

@pitt2021 Thank you. We’ll see! If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen. He’s been accepted to a few other schools on his short list, so there are other good options. It just seems strange that USF emphasized during their tour how important it was to apply early, and that decisions were usually given in 6-8 weeks, but it’s now been 3 months. To add insult to injury, twice in the past week, he’s received the same thick packet in the mail from USF, and each time it’s been an invitation to apply along with one of their brochures. We know he has everything in as he’s called to confirm. This hasn’t happened with any other school. Seems a little disorganized to me.

@njl1022 do you have more than one son applying, Or did you have another son apply last year?
