Got into USF St Pete. Considering going to community college instead and applying to transfer with an AA into economics at FSU. Which do you think is a better decision?
.
Think about your job in the future and which path will get you there. If your path to FSU is only because of easiness and the major you would pursue at USF is harder, then go to USF. Otherwise go the transfer path to FSU but try to graduate in 3 years (summer classes) and plan on graduate school (more fun).
Its mostly because FSU is a better ranked school with more name recognition and job oppurtunities and a better career center
The thing to bear in mind is that USFSP is not the same as main USF. It’s a small campus, mostly commuter, and if you’re looking for football games or Greek Life or all the traditional college trappings…forget it. Additionally, campus is in downtown St Petersburg, which is dynamic and lovely and diverse and walkable, but hella expensive on a student budget. The dorms are also more expensive than other state universities, and- at least going by the one my daughter lived in- not that well kept up.
If you go to community college then transfer after two years, your diploma will still say FSU (or USF or UCF or wherever). No one will ask where you took your freshman comp class. You will, however, save a ton of money. And if you go to TCC, you can still take part in a lot of FSU extras and live in Collegetown or somewhere else in the vicinity. Plus I’m pretty sure an AA from TCC is an automatic transfer (within certain parameters) if you’re really interested in FSU
