in my kaplan book, the scale is much more lenient:
800- 81/90
750- 68/90
700- 58/90
650- 48/90

while the scale on sparknotes is more harsh:
800- 82/90
750- 72
700- 64
650- 55

Which one more closely parallels to the real test? And also in terms of difficulty, how are the sparknotes and kaplan tests compared to the real thing?

hi i just took the us hist prac test in the official sat subj test book
and i'm sorry to tell you sparknotes has got it right on scoring - it is identical to the "official" scoring rubric

and az1698, i'm sorry, but how is your comment relevant? i'd guess you studied a bit before the real thing or something; otherwise, is it b/c you know you answered the same number of questions wrong and right?
regardless, congrats on your 800 :)

does the real test have 90 questions or 95 questions??? 'cause on barron's there's 95.....also, does anyone know the scoring scale for 95 questions???

az1698, obviously no one would KNOW that you took sparknotes the NIGHT before the test from just your 1st post...besides, it's unlikely that your own improvement proves a correlation between sparknotes/real test difficulty or the scoring scale.

and voodoo_santa, no idea on test difficulty, I find that rather subjective.

Well, considering me and many other USH test takers in may had the same sort of experience, I think im right and your wrong. How's that make you feel?

Haha, don't worry, I felt like that too. I made like 7 thread and questioned a billion previous tests takers to find out, and they all told me this. Sorry for the attitude, I just came back from a class at a local college, and didn't do as great as I wanted to on the test...
