Using older resources to study for APUSH?

Hello!
I have a copy of the 2nd Edition 2010 AMSCO book and I was wondering if it would be an issue to rely on a copy older than the recent changes made to the AP US History exam. I just want to make sure bc I would assume it wouldn’t be as I’m using AMSCO solely for the content (: Let me know what your thoughts are!

It is definitely an issue since the curriculum framework changed, which changed the content covered. Not drastically, but enough to be bothersome. The curriculum framework which the teachers use to plan their course is available to anyone on the teachers’ area of the college board website, so you can actually check there to see a detailed outline of what is on the exam now, but I think it will take more effort comparing that outline to your book to see what changed than it is worth. I’d purchase the latest book if I could. The AP teachers that I know do highly recommend AMSCO. I have heard some say that they would teach from that book if they could, but they can’t because it is not on the approved AP textbook list, it is only a review book. Some say their kids scores go up when they use AMSCO.

@TrudiRexar Thank you for your reply! I have heard, for the most part, only positive reviews about AMSCO so I will definitely be using it as a resource in studying and preparing for the APUSH exam. Do you know of any cheaper, alternative options in purchasing the latest book?

The APUSH test changed in 2015 to become more conceptual. I don’t think the old materials will hurt, but the curriculum did change.
