Using Our Knowledge for Good!

Browsing through this message board, I'm struck by the tremendous amount of knowledge and information about transferring that so many of the members possess. Maybe it's just being at loose ends in the aftermath of college applications, but I feel like we could do something with our knowledge and experience. There's so little compiled information and advice that I've found for transfer applicants - Either I'm missing it or it doesn't exist; Wouldn't it great to pool our resources, and make some sort of informational website for college transfers?

Or we could just go get career-related ECs to boost our resumes and make up for our average HS GPAs ^_-

What do you guys think? Am I crazy?

BTW, there's only one transfer book on the market.

Sounds dandy but requires too much time and a lot of people will probably leave CC once they are actually in their college of choice. It sounds like a great idea but one can search CC too...but the book would be better. I don't know, I'm lazy, but if something starts up I'll throw my 2 silver dollars in.

Ella123, what a good idea there! But who will compile the information and make it more accessible to many transferring students? You got any idea about how to start like making a website or something?

This is a superb idea. Count me in.

ill admit, i probably wont be on here after i transfer but i would love to put in some advice or something. i think a site should be composed of the average gpa of transfers. the common data sets only have average gpas of freshmen.

Yeah, I was thinking something modelled after a combination of the princeton review, with maybe some short articles like college confidential.
I suppose the main problem is organizing everything, and it's difficult to devote time to when I'm going into finals. I could work on it in May, after my school ends. Will people be around? And who would be interested in contributing?

It is better to compile the most valuable threads and have the moderators pin a thread containing the URLs to those valuable threads.

I think the best idea would be to make a wiki. Then everyone could contribute and make additions/corrections.

Thats a big book.

If we did have one I would split it like this.

-Public school tips
-Private school tips
-The application process:
Ivy league transfers
First tier (non-Ivy transfers)
UC trasnfers
Second tier trasnfers
-Transfer housing
-Transfer tution (public)
-Tranfer tutition (private)
-Finacial aid for transfers
-Tips for common majors

Thats all for now but I think you could expand on this.

Nice summary there, Matt30!

Except some things happen year to year that would change the book.
Like admission dates.

Someone would have to be on top of all that, which would suck.
