USMA Engineer

I'm interested in knowing how it is to be an engineering major at West Point, and what they do after graduation in their service.

You can be an engineering major and still branch any part of the Army if you are ranked high enough in your class. Some engineering majors branch engineers, some branch Infantry, etc–its up to you. West Point ranks you from your first day there untill your last day. The cadets with the highest overall ranking get first pick of the branches. Likewise, the highest ranked cadets in each branch get first pics of the available posting locations for that branch.

There are so many categories of engineering that one can in the end be a language major basically and have an operational engineering degree, or one can really be challenged and gain, say, a nuclear engineering degree. Choice is yours.
West Point is one of the finest engineering schools in the world.
Very few end up as practicing engineers either in the Army or in civilian life.
