USMLE after MBBS

Hello! Can anyone tell me when is a MBBS (India) student eligible for USMLE Step 1? Can he/she give it in the Final yr of Mbbs i.e. in the 5th yr, or during the internship period? Also, on an average, what is a good USMLE score for an IMG for getting residencies in Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic surgery, Gastro?
Also, how long does it takes for an IMG to complete the USMLE process, if done continuously?
Thanks in advance.

it will answer all of your questions -

you can sit for step 1 after you complete basic sciences. your school will have to verify for you.

you can sit for step 2 after you complete clinical sciences

you can also wait to take all 3 steps after you receive your degree - which is what alot of docs I know from India do -

the process is very straight forward. Good luck and let me know if you have any specific questions after you check out the website.
