<p>Hello! I would like to know how much USMLE percentage is generally required for an International Medical Graduate (who has done MBBS from India) to get a good (pref. Cardiothoracic Surgery/Neuro Surgery) residency postition in top Medical Centers in US?</p>

<p>You might want to check out Kaplan's message boards for this. I'm pretty sure that there is a way to sign up for them without being enrolled in a class. But they do have a message board that is dominated by IMG's and can answer more specific questions than can be answered here.</p>

<p>See pages 42-43 of the NBME's 2005 annual report which shows pass rates for step 1 (92% vs. 59%), 2, and 3 broken down by US/Canadian medical school vs other medical school graduates. Note also the breakdown for MD's vs. DO's and first time vs. repeat test takers. Step 1 is the most difficult of the three tests.</p>
