USNEWS question

Hey, my dad just offered to buy me the usnews package for undergrad 07.... should i buy it or should i just wait until the 08 one comes out if infact it is planned to come out shortly. Silly Questions but still thanks!

Eh. It doesn't change that much overall, year to year, but acceptance rates are changing pretty fast and you might want the most up to date figures on that (note that USNWR figures are always a year behind anyway, so if you buy the current copy, the figures will be from 2 years ago). I would say wait, except that (I believe) the new one will not come out until August, which is still a decent amount of time. It's not that expensive--take your dad up on his offer and amuse yourself for awhile :).

Meh - it's not $0.02. You can find most of that information that you want online... and probably more reliable!

ok thanks.. also.. does that premium subscription thing last only one year or would i be able to see all the 08 stuff if i got it this year ?

or let me put it this way...

If someone were to buy the 07 packet.... would he/she be able to view the 08 one .... or would she/he have to subscribe again to view that one ? (Does the subscription last one edition or more editions ?)

If you buy the 07 on-line package, it's good through this August, then you have to pay again for the 2008 version. I think that the most valuable parts of the on-line package are the data that you have to drill down several levels to get. It's quite detailed, and provides probably 10x the data that appears in the print edition, including a lot of the data from the common data sets like ED/EA figures, information on financial aid packages, things on student life and the demographic makeup of the study body, and more.

ok thanks... and so for the grand question...

wait 'till august or buy now ? hahah

Wait till August, I think.

yeah i think i am going to do that, thanks for all the input
