Hello. I am considering applying for the US Youth Senate Program for this coming year (my senior year.) I’m from Illinois, does anyone know what the application process is like/what the different application “rounds” (interviews, etc.) are? And if I get selected, will colleges even know, as I will have already applied (most likely)? I obviously wouldn’t just do it for college, but it wouldn’t hurt. Thanks!
Hi! I did this program this year and it was an amazing experience. The application process and “rounds” vary a lot by state. My state just required an application (transcript, extracurriculars) and essay, while many of my fellow delegates had tests and interviews. I’d call/email your state contact (should be on USSYP website) to find out the details.
You’ll find out if you’re selected in early December, so you can include this award on all regular decision college apps. Best of luck!
