[
] Senior Year Course Load: AP Gov, AP Economics, AP Stats, AP English IV, Anatomy & Physiology, AP Studio Art, Band
[li] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): n/a (unless solo and ensemble awards count)[/li][/ul]

Subjective:

[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Band, National Art Honor Society
[
] Job/Work Experience: n/a
[] Volunteer/Community service: helped run solo and ensemble competition and all-region auditions a few times
[
] Summer Activities: n/a
[] Essays: very strong (also submitted special circumstance essay to address junior year grades and lack of extracurriculars and volunteer/community service stuff)
[
] Teacher Recommendation: n/a
[] Counselor Rec: n/a
[
] Additional Rec: n/a
[li] Interview: n/a[/li][/ul]

Other

[ul]
[] State (if domestic applicant): in-state
[
] Country (if international applicant):
[] School Type: very competitive public high school (a lot of people get into UT and A&M every year)
[
] Ethnicity: Asian
[] Gender: Female
[
] Income Bracket: ~100k
[li] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): first generation college[/li][/ul]

Reflection

  • [] Strengths: very strong essays, solid portfolio, challenging course load
    [
] Weaknesses: rank, lack of extracurriculars and service hours and recommendations (honestly, everything tbh)
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I was honestly really confused as to why they accepted me because I knew how much focus was placed on rank and test scores and whatnot, but I honestly think my essays (and partially my portfolio) carried me all the way through the admissions process. (Of course, I am also in-state and a first generation college student, so it’s all just speculation). Also as many people probably applied to fine arts this year compared to some of the other more popular schools.
    [
] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: UH, Texas State, SJSU (all accepted)

General Comments: I have to admit, I still kinda feel like I’m on the verge of hyperventilating every time I check my status and see the “congratulations” banner. I’m still incredibly shocked that I got in but also really grateful. So thankful for the opportunity to be able to go to such a great school, and I can’t wait to find an apartment up in Austin soon!

(unrelated note but you left out the [ list ] tag for every section)

Reflection
I was not expecting to not get in. I actually considered UT Austin as a “safe school” or at least one of my easier schools to get into. It’s crazy! I actually got into CORNELL University (Ivy-League) and I didn’t get into this school. Crazy, but that’s alright! I’m happy with where I’ve gotten into thus far! Good luck to everyone else…or hope everyone who thought of this as their dream school got in!
Strengths:
Essays, Extracurriculars (but not amazing!), GPA, hooks.

General Comments:
I honestly thought I was not going to make it to the architecture programme. That’s why I put the dual programme of engineering and architecture as my first option, and architecture as my second option, now I regret it because I don’t want to be an engineer haha, if I end up going there, I will be changing my major to the regular bachelor of architecture. I honestly thought I wouldn’t get accepted anywhere because my EC’s didn’t show a lot of architecture involvement. But, I did try to be genuine, and honest.
