@Kd6410 what major did you apply to? also, keep in mind if you get rejected and your stats have chanced( like moving up in rank or any awards you have earned since applying) you can appeal.
I know its probably a dumb question to ask but are decisions released only on Fridays or can they be released on any other days like today and tomorrow.
@tb2000 I applied to finance and government - my extracurriculars are almost all political oriented so that’s definitely a problem for Mccombs, but I would be perfectly happy being accepted into my second choice major because that’s what I really want to do (parental pressure led me to apply to finance as my first)
Just saw a little update in my portal saying I was accepted to Plan II!
@Tennisboy2022 they’re usually released on Fridays. It’d be pretty odd for waves to occur on any other days but there’s no rule against it or anything.
@Kd6410 Rank is very important to Mccombs AI score, not as much for COLA. I think you have a decent shot at Government. One of my kids got COLA ( Econ)without being top 25 percent but resume was excellent( nationally ranked debater) and 99 percentile on ACT. Wanted finance, Did not choose Mccombs first since he knew rank would make it tough. will do a one year masters in Finance.
Do they even look at your second choice major? Thought they don’t .
@kelly123s Some do look at second choice major. Engineering, Mccombs, communications do not. But I think Engineering will look at you for your second choice inside the school of engineering- both choices have to be engineering. COLA does - but some COLA majors do not- (psych doesnt,) CNS will also. This is info gathered during visits with these places over the past 3 years- it could have changed i guess. Psych lists on its page that you have to apply for them first choice. Even of the places that will consider you if you list them second, they could fill up with people who listed them first. I think COLA or possibly education is safest second choice. Choosing two majors in CNS- like biology and chemistry really does not increase odds because all of those sciences are compared together. ( NOT CS- it is reviewed on its own). I assume architecture and nursing also do not look at you if you choose them second but I do no have exact first hand info on those.
Have people also received rejections? Or do those come out last?
I think rejections come out last. My older sister got rejected from UT and heard back in February, but people also got accepted in that wave. I think there will be a wave this friday with acceptances for priority applicants and then rejections for priority applicants next friday the 26th, but I am just guessing. Hopefully all decisions for priority applicants come out this friday.
I am not anticipating anything until January 26th. That is just a gut instinct.
Don’t forget everyone it’s possible you will get CAPed - almost every UT applicant from my school does if they don’t get accepted. I personally will decline if I get CAPed but if UT is your dream it’s not a bad idea
what does CAPed mean
@18class Cap is a program for in state applicants to eventually end up at UT. they offer you admission at another 4 year UT institute somewhere in texas for two years- if you complete two years there you are guaranteed admittance to UT but only in Liberal Arts. you can apply to another program inside UT but it is harder to get in and is not promised CAP is offered to any texas resident who does not get in or get the PACE program. CAP is not a good idea if you have a lot of dual credit or AP credit transferring in. you have to sign up quickly because CAP spots go fast. If you really wanted to consider a CAP like program, I would apply directly to that school and then transfer. I read on here last year several could not get UTSA cap because they logged on to try and it was filled already.

DD applied Unspecified Business, did not apply Business Honors. She is auto-admin since in top 7% in a Texas HS. Any idea when we may hear something from McCombs?
@AnotherPassword Depends on when she submitted her application. Either by Feb. 1 (priority) or March 1 (regular). Other than that no one knows when anyone will find out. It’s all just one big guessing game.
Will the wave be pushed back because of the campus being closed due to ice earlier this week? No one said it was being pushed back, I was just wondering.
I don’t think so. If there isn’t a wave this Friday, there will definitely be one next Friday. The one next Friday will probably be the last wave for priority applicants, unless UT decides to send some out on exactly February 1st
Quick question. Does anyone know whether the the transcripts had to be received by the 11/1 application date to be considered a priority applicant? While my daughter submitted her application by 11/1, her transcript wasn’t received until 11/20.
