Hi there y’all! I was going through the college boards and noticed there wasn’t one thread dedicated to UT Austin freshman class of 2016. I thought we could post questions we had about the college, experiences on campus, and the admissions process, sing kumbaya with each other, you know, that sorta stuff.
For me UT was a blast. Except my tour was eventful. The guide was great, but we were kinda left in th middle of campus, no where near where we started. My mom and I decided to go eat Lunch at Torchy’s, but then it started raining and we had to get back. Imagine a Vacation Movie, except downsize it to two people. We ended up trekking 2 miles in a thunderstorm until we found our car. I think during that time is when I really fell in love with the campus.

UT was definitely really cool when I visited it. I got stuck at the UT Tower and had to GPS my way back to the parking garage! I just submitted my application about an hour ago. I was shaking as I pressed the submit button. I really hope I get accepted.
@Copperrrrrrrrrrr I was going to submit all three. I like writing, so I just really couldn’t stop. I think anything optional you should do. @sympathized you already sent yours in! I’m so nervous I’ve spent the past two weeks just editing my essays.
@K20903 If it was sent electronically, it shouldn’t take too long at all. As soon as I logged into MyStatus it said my transcript had been received before I even submitted my application. My transcript was received on the 30th and I submitted my application on the 2nd.
Thanks I gave my transcript request to the Registrar’s office at my HS on Monday. I checked today and the office said it was sent this morning. But was not reflected yet in UT’s system. Just anxious to apply for housing.
@K20903 How long did that TREx transcript transfer end up taking? Just curious as I have asked the registrar to send one to UT and it hasn’t shown up. You’d think once they sent it it would post in a day or less. You’d think.
You can also upload one via the document upload if you request a hard copy from your school. Make sure you get an “official” one. TRex is better but if your school is being slow about it, that might work better for you.
Glad you all made this page. What’s the earliest someone could hear back from college of liberal arts if i already submitted my application? I also filled out my housing preferences online
Thanks for the replies. I took 3 days in total for it to appear in my son’s UT application.
One funny note, our registrar still charged us $3 to send our TREx transcript. I get charging for a printed, embossed copy, but to hit a button? Does TREX charge? Reading their website it seemed liked a free service…
Judging from last year’s threads, there sounds like there was some indication in MyStatus that told you “you qualify for auto admission” that popped up around September 19. And then you sat with no major for awhile.
People did not appear to be getting into McCombs until December and most of those people were people who had applied to BHP from what I can tell. Some got in to BHP and some got into McCombs and deferred for BHP. Then it seemed to be a trickle here and there until the final wave in late February.
We can only guess that it will work the same this year but who knows.
@psywar I went to Westwood in RRISD. I was admitted to the class of 2019 for this fall and it took the transcript until the end of summer to show up in my records. But as a notice to ALL, admissions come out in “waves” First one is in December, usually for the most qualified applicants. Then there is one right after winter break, and one towards the end of february. I was accepted during the very last round and I didn’t think I would get in! But keep your hopes up everyone and good luck HOOK EM!!!
