What are the chances of my daughter getting into Chemical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering at UT Austin. Her academic and EC information is as follows:

(1) In-state student
(2) School rank - 1/741
(3) GPA - 4.0/4.0 (UW) and 4.57 (W)
(4) AP distinguished scholar (9 AP classes through junior year, 1 dual degree class)
(5) 1470/1600 new SAT (710 math, 760 reading and writing); Will take SAT subject tests (Math and English) in October and retake SAT test in November
(6) ECs and awards are only OK
- Treasurer for the school chapter of Technology Student Association
- a Texas TSA State competition winner, several 1st places in the TSA regionals
- Gold medal for French in the Sophomore year

  • 140+ hours of voluntary service; National

Appreciate any input from the forum members.

Also, can she apply to Stanford or Rice?

Excellect except for the low SAT, has she taken the SAT again ? She should have great chance to get in the majors she want.

I should not say “low”, it is great SAT, just not excellect.
