What are my chances of getting in as an astronomy major at UT?
my GPA is 3.6 and 49 credit hours
I've written pretty good essays (3)
as for extracurricular activities: Ill have to look but many hours of tutoring at local elementary schools, and several hours as an usher at my church. I know its not the best EC

I think it’s pretty safe to say you’re in. I’m transferring to UT from UTSA and i’m…freaking out. Lol but I think you don’t really have much to worry about =)

thanks! I’m still gonna worry though lol. My goal is to take the appropriate classes to add engineering to my major (Im not calculus ready). Good luck to you!!

I applied as an astronomy major but intend take calculus and what ever else i need to get into Aerospace engineering, while studying in the natural science Dept. I doubt being accepted if i applied as an engineering major… even if i was calculus ready. I applied pretty late so i wont hear from them in a while. I’ve only been to austin twice and it still kinda grew on me. Reminds me of back home in Cali!

Ahh I love California. I visited Stanford awhile back and didn’t want to come back to Texas =p. But yeah…high school chemistry is COMPLETELY different from college level. I struggled hardcore in the beginning lol. I took an astronomy class in high school. Fell in love, but I don’t think I could handle the physics…

WOW! I’ve never talked to a texan that liked California:)

Physics, (like any subject i guess) can be really cool when taught properly. My physics professor now is really old-school and is teaching us in a way that kinda makes us teach the subject to ourselves… if that makes sense? I’m not having much fun :(

Astronomy is a cool subject. I’m sure it will all be worth it :)
