Hello all, I am a freshman electrical engineering student at the University of Houston. I would like to attend UT austin, and I will do this by transferring. I was a weak student in high school, so I could not get in first hand. After this first semester, I will more than likely hold a 4.0 GPA. Since I am in the process of completing 30 hrs, my spring grades will also factor in to the admissions decision. I seem to have a decent shot, since many of my friends transferred after first year with a decent GPA. However, here comes the problem that I am greatly concerned about. Since this was my first semester, I was trying to settle in and did not have the time to join any extracurriculars. I however, did do swimteam all four years of high school and also club swimteam. I also do not have previous work experience but do have some community service. I fear the lack of extracurriculars is really going to make a dent in my application here. Any help, tips, and chances of getting in would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone and happy holidays!

Oh, I am a first year freshman grad HS spring 2014

Also, if you have claimed AP credit, does that go towards the 30 transferrable hours needed for transfer?
