UT Austin vs Texas A&M

I was wondering about the sense of community at UT. One thing I really like about A&M is the friendliness and that fact that everyone seems to be willing to help, it has a more collaborative environment.

However, UT gave me more of an impersonal vibe when I toured it and I took it as maybe it was because I wasn’t a student attending UT, but I’ve heard that a lot of the times it feels like “you’re just another number” and the environment has a superiority complex and more of a competitive sink or swim vibe to it.

How does the overall culture and sense of community in both universities compare to one another? Are classes and programs significantly harder at UT than they are at A&M? Are professors, administration, and faculty as accessible in both universities?

UT is more of a metropolitan school, which is really just a fancy name for a commuter school. It’s more of a metro liberal vibe. A&M is more of a Christian conservative tradition-based community. The culture is the exact opposite of UT, hence the rivalry.
