<p>I'm confused on the UT application.. since i'm top 8% do i need to write these essays? because i thought i was automatically in.. and if i do can i just make them extremely short and crappy.? also there's no place to put my SAT score, gpa, or class rank?</p>
<p>Are you applying for a major or division that may be more competitive than the university overall (e.g. engineering)? The automatic admission may let you into the university, but not necessarily in the major or division you want.</p>
<p>i dont think so? lol. i mean i want to do biochem, but i thought that you just tell them that once you’re accepted?</p>
<p>Check to university to see what the procedure is for declaring or applying to your intended major and whether it is impacted enough to require any additional competitive admissions process.</p>

<p>Ask the school! Since I was curious I looked it up which you should do. And unless you find someone who will tell you they will automatically admit you to your major, you better work on the essays.

You are automatically admitted into UT, but not into the school or major of your choice. I would check their website or try to talk to an alumni or someone who was in a similar situation as you as suggested above. One thing you shouldn’t forget, however, is to take your application process seriously, regardless of if you are automatically admitted or not.
