UT BHP vs. Northwestern Econ

I like both schools a lot. I was wondering which school will give me better career opportunities in the future for ib.

thanks~

Go to UT BHP and major in a finance degree track and a minor (if possible) in math or economics (preferably in math). UT’s BHP is highly respected and will get you many interviews and jobs. Plus, majoring in economics doesn’t get you as many jobs compared to other business majors.

Business is the same as economics. Which one are you more interested in?

Economics is not the same thing as Business. They’re not even in the same school.

Like I stated, majoring in business will provide more and better job opportunities compared to majoring in Economics. Major in Finance with a minor in Mathematics or Economics for Investment Banking (I recommend minoring in Mathematics). I want to go into Investment Banking as well and then work at a Hedge Fund as a Quant.

Oops, typo! I meant to say “business is NOT the same as economics”.

they’re both good schools, and I’d say that they’re about on par with eachother. If the choice were UT BHP vs. UChicago Economics, then you’d have the tougher choice between the best economics program/unpleasant school vs. UT

well personally i’m more interested in finance and stuff, but i feel NU has a more well rounded education for business related careers…

another question you should ask yourself is: at which school do you feel more comfortable at? or what city do you want to live in?

If you want to work in the south UT BHP is unmatched, but if you’re considering either of the coasts Northwestern is probably a little higher regarded, but not by much. UT is much cheaper, does that factor into your decision?
