Ut late appeal approved

im posting those to hopefully comfort those who were as worried as i was when i realized my application was labeled late after submitting a document late. Heres the appeal letter i sent in to UT admissions, after i will list some tips to help out:

I am certain that every student rejected from your prestigious university has expressed these sentiments of despair to the admission department at UT Austin before. I am sure that of those who have been told no in the past, have yelled and cried in confusion and stress, belittling your institution with each outcry. I am sure that even this letter might even be considered amongst those that fit the criteria which I previously mentioned. However, I strongly believe you should reconsider herding me with the same population as those rejected. I fear that my admissions decision will be dictated by the extenuating circumstances beyond my control that deemed my application late. I hold UT as the best university in the country; having been a lifelong Texas resident, I have grown to cherish its diverse atmosphere and brilliant minds that stem from the University of Texas at Austin. It is with the highest regards for UT and its society that I write this letter of sincerity, in hopes that my application would be considered on time.

Despite doing everything I could to make sure UT received my transcript on time, which was the only document that made my application late, obstacles kept posing threat to my goal of admissions to UT. I’d like to inform the admissions committee of the fact that I did request an official transcript on February 19th, 2018 from my current institution at xxx College in xxx, TX. Upon requesting it at the admissions records department at my college, my advisor gave me an unofficial transcript meanwhile my official transcript was processed. I submitted a form to the advisor at xxxcollege requesting my transcript to be sent to the University of Texas at Austin as soon as it was ready to be shipped. That, however, didn’t come as easy as I had planned for it to be. As the days kept burning through the fall season, I heard no news of my transcript’s progress and every time I summoned an argument to xxx college’s admissions department regarding the issue, I was simply told to leave and come back at their request. Later, rather than sooner, I received an email by the financial aid department at xxxcollege claiming that I was called for verification due to the fact that I added UT Austin as part of my 2018-2019 FAFSA. This was the reason for the halt on my official transcript delivery to UT; a problem with my FAFSA prevented any official documents to be processed under my name. The verification process wasn’t so easy to solve considering I had to recover my mother’s 2015 tax transcripts from the IRS office in xxx, TX. This would’ve been easier to accomplish if I would’ve had a functioning car to take me to the city half an hour away from my home. On top of that, I had to schedule an appointment with the IRS office which took nearly two days to do so. I couldn’t afford to order them by mail for I would’ve had to wait 3-5 days for it to come; which was time I could not afford to risk considering by that time I only had a day left. By the time I had scheduled an appointment with the IRS, found someone kindly enough to take me to retrieve my mother’s transcript in xxx, TX, and settle everything with the admissions department at xxcollege, it was too late. I missed the deadline by one day.

I strongly urge the committee to reconsider labeling my application late. I do not believe that my academic success, validated by my strong GPA and involvement in my community, should be prioritized over a document received 12 hours late. I feel the need to exhaust all opportunities to enroll to be satisfied with the application process. All I feel I can do now is submit this letter and let fate take its course. Thank you.

As you can see i was extremely specific and straightforward to what the issue was.The truth is they dont care how you feel about the school, since submitting an appeal shows your interest enough. Dont waste their time with a pity letter begging them to reconsider. I also submitted proof that I visited all those facilities at the dates that i stated and my transcript showing what date it was requested which was before the deadline. It is very important that you provide documentation for your appeal otherwise it will not be seriously considered. From the looks of it, UT almost always only approves appeals that involve a document misplacement or late submission. If youre appealing for a late application, do it AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. UT reviews applications for fall semesters early April, so as long as you submit it by then i think youll be good. Appeals regarding their admission is extremely tough to get through to them. I hope this helped. best of luck !

I do not believe that my academic success, validated by my strong GPA and involvement in my community, should be overlooked by a document received 12 hours late. ****

should not be**

Congrats!

Hey, I’m in pretty much the exact same position as you. My Late Appeal was approved last Thursday, March 18. I was wondering how long it took for you to receive your final admissions decision? I’m having trouble finding anecdotal answers online because it’s a pretty unique situation.
